Survivors include a son, Arthur Parrott, two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at the Blair Strawser funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.

Richard Stewart Parrott was born in 1906 to Dr. and Mrs. Howard C. Parrott. Because he was underweight and frail, a doctor doubted he could survive Cincinnati winters and recommended his parents take him to Cuba.

Shortly thereafter, they moved to the Cuban Isle of Pines where Mr. Parrott's father, a dentist, worked and the family lived for the next 10 years.

Mr. Parrott would be deemed fragile the rest of his life. Bespectacled and bookish, he tried to enlist in the Army but was classifed 4-F so he became a draftsman.

Despite his frailties, Mr. Parrott was 94 when he died of heart failure Monday at his residence at the Beechwood Home in O'Bryonville.

He was the son of family prominet in Montgomery's history.

His great-grandfather, Richard Parrott, was born in 1811 Virginia and moved to Montgomery where he met Mary Ann Askew, whom he married in 1833.

Before the Civil War, the Parrotts founded a store at the southwest corner of Montgomery and Cooper roads.

Parrotts General Store had the only telephone in Montgomery in 1897, according to History of Montgomery 1795-1995, published by the city of Montgomery.

The same family sold everything from sugar to harnesses well into the 20th century.

The building was torn down in the 1950s, but Montgomery recently renamed Straight Street, located near the site of the store, Parrott Alley to honor one of its earliest merchants.

Mr. Parrott graduated from the old West Night School at Hughes High and then worked in New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Cincinnati before retiring from a naval ammunitions depot in Crane, Ind., according to his nephew, Charles R. Parrott of Clifton.

He remained a bachelor and was an avid reader.

"After he retired, he would go to the public library downtown and open up the place, meaning he was probably the first to go inthe door when they opened it," his nephew said.

He was a member of the Friends of the Library.

Also surviving is another nephew, Howard G. Parrott of Yuman, Ariz.

A graveside service is 10 a.m. at Hopewell Cemetery, 10101 Montgomery Road, Montgomery.

Bob and Paul moved to Palm Springs in the 70's, buying and running the Vagabond Motor Hotel. They were both members of the Prime Timers and very active community members. Their iconic replica car, Madam X, chauffeured many stars and community members during Pride parade.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his partner Paul, his twin brother Montfort Glenn Parrot, JR., and many beloved cats. Bob is survived by his sister Betty Short, many nieces and nephews and his dear friend Raul Escamilla of Palm Springs.

In the early morning of September 11, 2014, Doris passed away peacefully from complications brought about from Alzheimer. Doris was being visited and comforted by family members at the Bridgeway Pointe Assisted Care Facility in Cincinnati, OH at the time of her passing. Doris was 89 years old.

Doris Parrott (nee Meyer) was born on December 15, 1924. She was the first child, and the first daughter, of Sylvester 'Pete' and Rachel Meyer.

Doris was preceded in death by her Father, Sylvester 'Pete' Meyer; her Mother, Rachel Meyer (nee Dunaway); her brother Donald Meyer; her sister Jean Johantges; her husband, Edwin 'Chuck' Parrott.

As a family, vacations were camping trips. Doris and Ed traveled from coast to coast, even as far as Canada, making friends wherever they traveled. One of the family's pastimes was an organization called "Cousins Club". The "Club" would meet monthly to spend a night of games and frivolity. The "Club" would put together their own versions of "Beat the Clock" or Charades, among other activities.

Another one of Doris' favorite pastimes was dancing the Jitterbug with her husband Ed. She loved listening to the music of the big bands and continued to enjoy the music of that era up to her last days. She may not have been able to dance anymore, but could still tap her feet to the music.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Bridgeway Pointe; to VITAS Hospice of Cincinnati and to everyone who sent cards and kept Doris in their thoughts and prayers.

Notes: Earl Roy Parrott, devoted husband of Vicki Lynn, loving father of Curt (Chola) and Michael, died Thur. Oct 11 at St. Elizabeth Hospice. Born March 16, 1931 the eldest of 8 born to Raymond Parrott Sr. and Dorothy Lukens in Ft. Thomas, Ky. Preceded in death by sister, Shirley. Also survived by dear brothers Walter "Bud" (Phyllis), Jim (Nancy) and Raymond "Junior" (lone); sisters Barbara Stinnett, Janet Newberry and Lois Parrott; as well as 1 cherished grandson Reade. Graduated Highlands High 1949; attended UC before joining Army, serving honorably from 1951-53. returned home to attend, and earn B.A. from UK in 1958 in Metallurgical Engineering. Worked at Newport Steel, and, later Xtek for 30 years, earning respect and praise for his knowledge and kindness. No public services are planned.

Earl married Vicki Lynn Heskamp. Vicki was born on 20 Oct 1936 in Aurora, Dearborn Co., Indiana and died on 15 Oct 2017 in Blue Ash, Hamilton Co., Ohio, at age 80.

Notes: Vicki Lynn Parrott (nee Heskamp) passed at 9:25 Sunday morning, October 15th at Blue Ash Hospice, with her family by her side. She was the older of two sisters, a happy, idealistic child born October 20th, 1936 in Aurora, In, to her late parents Clarence J. Heskamp and Victoria E. (nee VanderEspt) She loved to read and excelled at that among other subjects before leaving after high school graduation to make her way in the "big city" that is Cincinnati. She displayed her tireless, disciplined work ethic by working multiple jobs before turning in some of that free spirit to accept the repeated requests of our dad Earl Parrott (1931-2012) for marriage in 1962. She made the great sacrifice of bearing and raising two sons, Curt and Mike, but also earned working and teaching licenses in the career she loved, cosmetology, putting both to use often and touching many lives for the better. One of her proudest moments was to become a business owner in the early '80's by purchasing a beauty salon, with the support of our dad, called Design Reflections. She also loved, and excelled, at astrology, cooking, gardening and travel, with her favorite trip being to the British Isles and Ireland in 2000. She will be deeply missed as she goes to join our Father (and our father) in Heaven, by not only her two sons, but her grandson Reade, her dear sister Harla Lyle and her children Carolyn and David, as well as two great-nieces and a great-nephew, and our dad's six younger siblings and their families. She will be cremated and laid to rest with our dad. Services will be Saturday, October 21st at 11:00 a.m at United Church of Christ, 15 S. Ft. Thomas Ave, Fort Thomas, Ky. 40. James Thomas Parrott (Raymond Milford⁴, Charles Leroy³, Alexander Duncan², Richard¹) was born on 8 Sep 1941 in Fort Thomas, Campbell Co., Kentucky and died on 23 Mar 2023 in Fort Thomas, Campbell Co., Kentucky, at age 81.

Notes: It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of James Thomas Parrott (81) of Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Jim passed peacefully at his home in Fort Thomas after a brief battle with cancer. Born to Raymond and Dorothy Parrott at his family home in Fort Thomas on September 8, 1941, he lived in the city and worked around the area until his death on March 23, 2023.

Although many will remember Jim as "The Carpet Man" for his long career as an expert flooring installer, he was also an avid golfer and bowler. He was proud of recording both a hole in one on the golf course and an 812 series on the bowling lanes. Like many on the Kentucky side of the river, he was a Bengals, Reds, and (of course) UK Basketball fan, but he most enjoyed being a fan of his child and grandchildren. He never missed a Highlands Band performance when he was able to attend, sometimes driving several hours for the chance to volunteer to help with equipment or just to watch the band compete. His generosity with his money, time, transportation, and most importantly, his sense of humor will be sorely missed by all those he leaves behind.

He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Dorothy, brothers Earl and Walter, and Step-Daughter Rhonda Mayes (Miller).

Survivors include his beloved wife Nancy Parrott, Sisters Barbara Stinnett (Parrott), Janet Newberry (Parrott), Lois Parrott, Brother Raymond Parrott Jr., Son (adopted Grandson) Timothy Parrott, Granddaughter Valarie Zembrodt (Mayes), Grandson Jacob Mayes, 15 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28 from 9:00-10:00 AM at the Christ Church United Church of Christ 15 S. Ft. Thomas Ave. followed by a brief service. Interment immediately following church service at Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate, KY.

James married Nancy Kay Smith Miller, daughter of Arthur E. Smith. Nancy was born on 4 Mar 1940 in Newport, Campbell Co., Kentucky and died on 15 Jun 2023 in Fort Thomas, Campbell Co., Kentucky, at age 83.

Notes: It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy Kay Parrott (Smith) of Ft. Thomas. She passed away peacefully, and in the presence of her Granddaughter, at the age of 83 at Highland Springs Care Facility in Ft. Thomas on June 15 after a prolonged battle with Cancer.

Her journey began in Newport, KY on March 4, 1940. Born to Mildred Jeanne and Arthur Smith as the second oldest of 8 children in a working class family, she quickly established herself as "The Big Sister" that was more of a "second Mom." The loss of her sister Helen Lynn due to Meningitis, and the birth of her youngest sibling Judy prepared her for her lifelong devotion to her family. As was common with her generation, she was anxious to start a family, and married immediately after High School. She would have her first and only child Rhonda Miller in 1958. Soon after Rhonda's birth, Nancy moved to Corpus Christi, TX to join her husband's family. Her happiness was short lived however, as a series of tragedies soon struck. She was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer soon after Rhonda's birth, rendering her unable to have more children. She found herself in a strange city and in a quickly dissolving marriage. Like she would continue to do right up until last Thursday, she fought back hard. Unable to have children, she began financially and spiritually supporting children in foreign orphanages. She saw the suffering in the world, and she did whatever small thing she could to make someone else's life better. When her marriage finally collapsed, she moved back to Kentucky, and in 1973, when Rhonda found herself pregnant as a young teen, Nancy stepped in again. She would adopt her Grandson Tim and raise him as her own. Loving and supporting him until her death. Rhonda would go on to marry and have two more children, Valarie Mayes (Zembrodt) and Jacob Mayes, before her untimely and shocking death in a house fire in 1994. Nancy stepped in to help guide her grandchildren through their teenage years, while at the same time mourning the loss of her only child. This pattern of selfless caring for others before considering her own needs, was a common thread throughout her entire life. Whether you knew her as Big Sister, Aunt Nancy, Mom, Nance, or the "Nice Old Lady at the Balloon Store," she was always looking out for the needs of others. The loss of her generosity and compassion will be felt deeply by all that came in contact with her.

43. Capt. Howard Gordon Parrott (Clyde Gordon⁴, Howard Compton (Dr.)³, Alexander Duncan², Richard¹) was born on 23 Dec 1931 in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., Ohio and died on 23 Sep 2005 in Yuma, Yuma Co, Arizona, at age 73.

Notes: Howard G. Ace Parrott Captain USMC retired, passed away Friday, September 23, 2005. He was born on December 23, 1931 on the second floor of his great aunt's grocery store in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He left school after he turned 16 and joined the Marines when he was 17. He served in Korea as a tank driver with the 1st Marine Division's 1st Tank Batallion. He participated in the landing at Inchon and the Chosin Reservoir Operation. He earned six battle stars for his twelve months in Korea. He served at various duty stations until 1966 when he left for Vietnam. He again served with the 1st Tank Btn. He was commissioned as a second Lieutenant in July 1966.

Ace retired in 1972 and started his civilian career in 29 Palms, California. He first owned a trophy shop and later a cocktail lounge. While in 29 Palms he was selected as a distinguished President of the Kiwanis Club. He was also elected as a five year trustee of the Elks Lodge and was President of the 29 Palms Park and Recreation Department.

He retired yet again late in 1978. He then moved to Yuma only to unretire. He took ownership of Ye Olde Pub Cocktail Lounge at 4th and Catalina and then The Pub on 4th Avenue extension.

Ace was a charter lifetime member of the USMC Tankers Association, Elks Lodge 476, VFW, Military Officers Association of America, and DAV.

Ace leaves a son, Gordon, of Somerton; daughter, Valerie and grandson, James, of Norwood, Ohio.

He also leaves his companion of many years, Mary Read and her children, Yolanda, Wanda, Louie, Eddy and Jesse along with their families.

Additionally his ex-wife, Arlene; step-daughter, Lois and her children, Katy and Jacob.

Graveside services with full military honors to be announced.
